Removal and Return of the Breakfast Wrap in the UK
McDonald’s breakfast wrap used to be a popular breakfast item in the UK. During the pandemic, McDonald’s started to serve limited menu items, so the breakfast wrap was removed from the menu in 2020 along with some other menu items. Later on, other menu items came back to the menu but breakfast wrap didn’t become a part of the menu.
Since it was a very popular Maccies item, the people started demanding its return. McDonald’s UK received over 5000 direct messages on their social media and 22 petitions were signed to bring it back. And finally, it was added to the menu again on February 7, 2024.
On its return, the demand was so high that just after two days, McDonald’s had to announce its temporary removal from the menu across the country to prevent the shortage of ingredients for breakfast items such as eggs etc. The spokesperson announced: “Due to an unprecedented demand, McDonald’s has had to temporarily remove the breakfast wrap from the menu, to avoid running out of all wider breakfast items.”
Difference between the Old Breakfast Wrap and the New Breakfast Wrap
In the old wrap, there was one omelette-type egg which was folded in the wrap. The new wrap contains two eggs, but those are plain free-range rounded eggs.
